Thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments 2013! Please help with this survey.

Dear Nirmal Dulal,
Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments 2013, and for sharing your pictures with the whole world! We would like to ask again a few minutes of your time.

Thanks to the participation of people like you, the contest gathered more than 365,000 pictures of cultural heritage objects from more than 50 countries around the world, becoming the largest photography competition to have ever taken place.

You can find all your pictures in your upload log, and are of course very welcome to keep uploading images and help develop Wikimedia Commons, even though you will not be able to win more prizes (just yet).

If you'd like to start editing relevant Wikipedia articles and share your knowledge with other people, please go to the Wikipedia Welcome page for more information, guidance, and help.

To make future contests even more successful than this year, we would like to invite you to share your experiences with us in a short survey. Please fill in this short survey in your own language, and help us learn what you liked and didn't like about Wiki Loves Monuments 2013.

Kind regards,

the Wiki Loves Monuments team

Solution for the image: File:Gomphrena globosa Single.JPG[edit]

Hello. You are the photographer of the image File:Gomphrena globosa Single.JPG. I'm not sure if the image was edited or not. If so, I suggest you clear the image blurs and not have to be very sharp and without noise. The field is very blurred ago. With the reform of image, intend to nominate it again in FP. If you do not like, leave anyway. Thanks. ArionEstar (talk) 17:54, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2017 is open![edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2017 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in R2.

Dear Nirmal Dulal,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

Thanks,

Hi Yann if you look there carefully you can find that I only supported some among his Nominations, not The all of them, And I supported his nominations as per Quote from Commons:Valued images: "Valued images, on the other hand, are those that are the most valuable of their kind for use in an online context, within other Wikimedia projects", I only supported those Images which were used and useful, and its done with good faith.I respect the Criteria and Rules of VI. —- Nirmal Dulal (talk) 17:20, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not really. Please read the rules again. Images need to be geocoded, and have a valuable scope. That's not the case for several of your supports. Regards, Yann (talk) 18:01, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion about QI assessment of one of your images[edit]

It’s about this image

Hello Nirmal Dulal,

just in case you may have not noticed yet, I just want to give you a hint that there is some discussion about the Quality Image assessment of one of your photographs: please see here.

As far as I can see, the most important point is the perspective. While your photo is very nice in itself, the rules for Quality Images normally require a perspective correction for photographs of buildings, i.e. making all straight lines appear straight. This is best done right in the raw image file conversion process, i.e. in your case in Lightroom. Have you a raw image file for this photograph, i.e. a CRW/CR2/CR3 file? Could you try to create a variant of this photograph with lens and perspective correction applied? (I would suggest to upload it as a separate image with a new file name, because the current version of your photograph has made such success in WLM and should IMHO not be overridden. :–) Or, if you do not want to do this yourself, in the discussion Hans-Jürgen Neubert has already offered to create an improved version for you, and I can can offer the same (i.e., I can try to create a version of your photo which complies to the suggestions given in the QI discussion). It would only be necessary that you could send the CRW/CR2/CR3 file to me or a version converted into DNG file format to Hans-Jürgen Neubert …

No offence, I just want to help a bit. Best, --Aristeas (talk) 17:05, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Aristeas: thanks for help, I just did the nominations, I’m not the author and uploader. I’ll try to reach to the real author for this and let you know soon. Thanks again for your help and notification. —- Nirmal Dulal (talk) 17:27, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, sorry that I missed this! Thank you for pointing this out! I have therefore copied my message (as given above) to the discussion page of the author and uploader of the image.
However, it is a good idea that you try to reach the real author, too. You have already successfully nominated quite some photographs for Quality Images; maybe you can give some hints to the real author about the QI procedure and requirements …
Thank you and best regards, --Aristeas (talk) 17:44, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Arial view of Pokhara 03.jpg[edit]

This is a very nice picture, but I noticed it looks to be highly compressed. Do you shoot in RAW? If so, you may want to check your JPG compression settings. (a 24 MP picture should be much larger than 2.45 MP). — Rhododendrites talk03:06, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rhododendrites, I shot it in RAW. Sorry to say, I tried searching in my backup but didn't find the RAW file (just found a converted JPG with 6.56 MB size). Thanks and Regards -- Nirmal Dulal (talk) 09:03, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Oh well. Well nice job on the image, regardless. I suspect if it were processed differently, it might be a good FP candidate. In case you find the RAW someday. :) — Rhododendrites talk15:24, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at Wikimedia Commons.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Welcome, Dear Patroller![edit]

English  español  മലയാളം  Türkçe  +/−

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi Nirmal Dulal,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons.

Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Wiki Loves Monuments 2020[edit]

Hallo Nirmal_Dulal,

Wiki Loves Earth 2021[edit]

Hallo Nirmal_Dulal,

Wiki Loves Monuments 2021[edit]

Hallo Nirmal Dulal,

Wiki Loves Earth 2023 Nepal banner[edit]

Hi Nirmal Dulal, I noticed you added the design for the Wiki Loves Earth banner on the page Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2023/CentralNotice. The design you created is sadly not possible in the CentralNotice system in the form it is right now (and also not for the other countries with a similar design proposal). With a simple banner it is only possible to have only one image in the right side and only one image on the left side. If you wish a more complex banner with multiple images, a design like this is then an option (with in the center a wide central image). If you wish to use a complex design, you need to create the central image which measures 8.000 × 1.000 pixels. Otherwise it will be the simple design. Then please change the design by removing the images so only one remains on on side. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 17:46, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Romaine: please check this image as per your requirement. and hope you can use text from the template I already requested. Thank you!! - Nirmal Dulal (talk) 04:22, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Nirmal Dulal, Implemented! Just one thing for next time: if you create an image out of other images, please make sure you mention all the images used on the file page. I searched now for the images and added them to the file page, but that is normally something the uploader should do. Otherwise you may face the risk that the image gets deleted because of copyright issues. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 03:29, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
